Job Description

Clinical Ink is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Lab. In this role, you will play a key part in rapidly prototyping innovative mobile applications and software solutions that integrate with connected health devices and backend platforms. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams—including platform engineering, data engineering, and AI teams—to design, build, and integrate applications using modern APIs, data synchronization patterns, and cloud‑native architectures. This position is ideal for a developer who thrives in a fast‑paced, experimental environment focused on improving clinical trial research through digital health and software innovation.

  • Build cross‑platform (iOS/Android) mobile apps for digital health proof‑of‑concepts using frameworks such as React Native.
  • Design and integrate RESTful and event‑driven APIs to support secure data exchange between mobile apps, backend services, and data pipelines.
  • Implement reliable data synchronization workflows for intermittently connected devices and users.
  • Integrate apps with BLE medical devices, wearables, and biosensors to capture, validate, and transmit health data.
  • Implement secure data transmission to cloud services (e.g., AWS S3, APIs).
  • Rapidly iterate on prototypes, applying modern software development practices such as modular design, feature flags, and experimentation frameworks.
  • Collaborate with platform, data, and AI teams to ensure solutions align with backend architectures, APIs, and evolving data models.
  • Ensure apps follow healthcare privacy and security best practices (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.).
  • Maintain documentation and contribute to knowledge sharing within the lab and with product/engineering stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in software development with a strong focus on mobile applications (React Native, TypeScript, Objective‑C, Swift, or similar).
  • Experience designing and consuming APIs (REST, GraphQL, or event‑based systems).
  • Experience integrating connected devices (BLE) into mobile or hybrid applications.
  • Familiarity with cloud‑native architectures and AWS services for secure data transmission and backend integration.
  • Working knowledge of modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, version control, and logging.
  • Understanding of healthcare data privacy and mobile app security.
  • Passion for innovation in digital health, emerging software patterns, and rapid prototyping.
