Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Systems Engineer to join our growing team in the naval industry. The candidate will play a key role in the design, development, and integration of yacht systems (mechanical, piping, HVAC, firefighting, fuel, fresh water, bilge, grey/black water, hydraulics, etc.) across various projects.

Beyond the technical scope, the role requires strong organizational and leadership skills to coordinate with other departments, support junior engineers, and ensure project delivery from concept through commissioning.

This position is designed for an engineer ready to grow into a leadership role, with the potential to become a future Head of Systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, specification, and integration of onboard systems (fuel, HVAC, hydraulics, bilge, fresh/black/grey water, fire safety, ventilation, etc.).
  • Validate systems against class requirements, regulations, and client specifications.
  • Perform calculations, simulations, and technical benchmarking to support design choices.
  • Produce and validate schematics, 2D/3D models, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (Electrical, Composites, Interior, Naval Architecture) to ensure smooth integration of systems.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers, ensuring technical consistency and knowledge sharing.
  • Manage BOM accuracy, procurement requests, and technical follow-up with suppliers.
  • Support production, installation, and commissioning teams with technical expertise.
  • Participate in sea trials, testing, and quality validation (QA/QC).
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, standardization, and process optimization in the Systems Departments.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in systems engineering within the shipbuilding, yacht building, or offshore/naval industry.
  • Strong technical background in piping, HVAC, hydraulics, and marine systems integration.
  • Experience with 2D/3D design tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of class societies, ISO standards, and maritime regulations.
  • Proven experience leading small teams or coordinating multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Ability to manage priorities, deadlines, and deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
  • Previous experience in luxury yacht building is a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team, assign tasks, and monitor progress.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and capacity to propose innovative solutions.
  • Desire and potential to grow into a department leadership role.
