Overview
This senior engineering role is responsible for supervising and managing electrical infrastructure projects particularly in transmission and distribution systems. The Resident Engineer ensures quality execution, regulatory compliance, and coordination across disciplines with a strong focus on safety, risk management, and technical excellence. The position demands extensive experience in high‑voltage systems commissioning and stakeholder engagement, especially within TRANSCO and ADNOC project environments.
Your role
- Supervise the works so that they are performed in the proper sequence and meet the required quality as per Contract Document.
- Perform and approve all site activities, carry out day‑to‑day site inspection, attend all pre‑commissioning and commissioning tests, alignments, etc., and issue site memos where required.
- Prepare PRE for interdisciplinary coordination at site.
- Monitor and report on the progress of work.
- Guide and cooperate with inspectors to supervise the works in proper sequence and required quality as per Contract Document.
- Ensure that the documentation for the completion of work activities listed in the Quality Control Plan/Inspection Test Plan is complete, and all supporting documents are attached with the Quality Control Records. Verify that the data filled in the Quality Control Records are correct.
- Supervise/follow up the tests on site.
- Co‑operate with the Quantity Surveyor to review the contractor's monthly invoices.
- Co‑operate with the QA/QC Engineer to ensure that the work is carried out to the agreed QC level and recorded in the appropriate QC forms/documents.
- Ensure pragmatic measures are taken through the contractor's HSE team to protect and promote Health, Safety and Environment.
- For any commissioning activities, maintain direct contact with TRANSCO® & C Department and provide information to the TRANSCO Project Engineer, while liaising properly with PRE & RE.
- Have complete knowledge of the work packages and responsibility assigned to you.
- Be aware of the construction schedule and ensure timely completion of the work on schedule.
- Verify implementation of risk responses and identify new risks at the site.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BE) or equivalent in Engineering from a recognized university. Candidates with a minimum of three (3) years of Diploma in Electrical or Electronics & Communication Engineering, with good and relevant experience on similar projects, will also be considered. The degree must be certified by the Ministry of Higher Education before employment.
Minimum Experience
- 12 years of experience for Engineering Degree holders and nine (9) years for Diploma holders, preferably with a consultant. Experience must include successfully completing a previous project of similar type and scope.

- High Voltage, Medium Voltage and Low Voltage Switchgears.
- Power Transformers.
- Protection & Control Systems.
- Auxiliary Power – 110V & 48 V DC system and LVAC.
- Instrumentation and Control (DCS, SCADA & Telecom).
- Installation of cables and cable ways.
- Stringing of OHL conductors / OPGW.
- Testing and commissioning of Transformers, Switchgears, Protection & Control systems, Telecom systems, etc.
- Issue site memos.
- Familiarity with Transco specifications.
- Awareness of HSE monitoring implementation and knowledge of relevant hazards.
- Ability to monitor and supervise the contractor and subcontractor activities from all different aspects.
- Early identification of risks.
