Job Description : The Opportunity

Substation Control & Protection System Testing & Commissioning for various projects, acting as the responsible commissioning engineer overseeing the installation and commissioning of Substation Control & Protection systems for assignments classified as medium commissioning complexity. Manage completion of all commissioning activities efficiently and cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Represent the Commissioning function at project meetings and commissioning review meetings and contribute to creating the project commissioning philosophy. Manage implementation of the project commissioning philosophy.
  • Manage implementation of commissioning changes and production of as-built project documentation, while supporting continuous improvement of project processes, products, and system commissioning through lessons learned feedback.
  • Support Project Managers in issuing claims (new scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications, etc.).
  • Create work plans for your area of responsibility and proactively manage tasks to deliver the agreed program on time, on quality, and at targeted cost.
  • Conduct real-time risk and opportunity assessments during the commissioning phase to ensure safe implementation and identify potential variation requests to support contract claims. Report early any contract, quality, program, or cost issues to management with recommendations for resolution.
  • Manage external organizations providing commissioning equipment, systems, or services (e.g., issue permits to work, provide guidance on health and safety requirements and work practices, accept completed work).
  • Create standard processes and tools. Use agreed procedures to ensure all commissioning activities comply with safety regulations and contractual requirements.
  • Manage small commissioning teams, prepare project documentation for SAT and FAT as required, obtain approvals from utilities for commissioning activities of protection systems (main and backup relays including scheme testing), and demonstrate knowledge and experience of third‑party products and systems.
  • Follow safety rules on construction sites according to regulations and provide proactive coordination and reporting to the principal commissioning engineer operationally and the commissioning manager functionally.
  • You will be ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 to 8 years' experience as a commissioning engineer for protection systems and products.
  • Experience handling high- to medium-complexity projects in operation.
  • Skills to operate test kits (Omicron, FREJA, Swecker).
  • Ability to generate technical reports, communicate effectively, and interface with customers.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with an analytical and strategic approach.
  • High customer orientation and excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English is required.
