Role Context The Program Manager - 3PL and Direct Imports will own key transportation programs that move vendor returns, customer returns, and direct-import freight across the Middle East and North Africa. The role combines carrier management, network planning, project delivery, operational analysis, and cross-functional coordination. It requires close collaboration with third-party logistics providers, fulfillment centers, Supply Chain teams, Transportation partners, customer service, and senior leadership.
The successful candidate will be expected to convert performance data into practical actions that improve cost, speed, quality, and customer experience while maintaining control over new lane launches, carrier escalations, and regional returns operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Own carrier performance across cost, speed, quality, and service reliability for vendor returns and customer returns across MENA.
- Manage third-party logistics programs from planning through implementation and ongoing operational delivery.
- Launch new transportation lanes and services with existing and newly appointed 3PL providers.
- Coordinate carrier onboarding, operational integration, testing, readiness, and launch activities.
- Lead Weekly and Monthly Business Reviews covering the regional 3PL program.
- Prepare and conduct Daily Business Reviews, Weekly Business Reviews, Monthly Business Reviews, and Quarterly Business Reviews with logistics providers.
- Translate performance results into clearly assigned corrective actions and follow through until closure.
- Monitor carrier KPIs and identify lanes, services, or processes operating below agreed expectations.
- Negotiate operational requirements and performance improvements with third-party carriers.
- Partner with fulfillment centers, customer service, and transportation teams to resolve recurring defects.
- Lead root-cause analysis on transportation failures, returns issues, and operational escalations.
- Develop corrective and preventive actions that address underlying causes rather than temporary symptoms.
- Own critical returns-related escalations and coordinate resolution across relevant functions.
- Quantify operational impact when major service issues occur and provide leadership with clear mitigation plans.
- Produce transportation plans and volume forecasts for regional operations.
- Build business cases for new import lanes, transportation solutions, and network changes.
- Analyze network performance data to identify cost reduction and service improvement opportunities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives with carriers and internal operating teams.
- Monitor progress against project milestones and ensure 3PL initiatives are delivered according to schedule.
- Maintain visibility over program risks, dependencies, unresolved actions, and operational constraints.
- Communicate program performance and significant issues clearly to senior leadership.
- Work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams to define requirements and implement operational improvements.
- Support expansion of direct-import transportation capabilities across UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and other regional markets.
- Contribute to automation and data-driven initiatives that improve Supply Chain operations.
- Maintain strong accountability for customer experience throughout transportation and returns processes.
Ideal Profile
- Minimum 5 years of experience working cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams.
- Minimum 5 years of team management experience.
- At least 5 years of experience delivering cross-functional projects.
- Minimum 5 years of program or project management experience.
- Proven ability to define program requirements and use data and metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
- Strong background in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or third-party carrier operations is highly relevant.
- Experience managing complex projects across multiple countries or operating locations is advantageous.
- Ability to manage 3PL relationships and influence external providers against measurable performance targets.
- Strong understanding of operational KPIs covering cost, speed, service, and quality.
- Experience conducting business reviews and presenting performance data to stakeholders.
- Ability to lead structured root-cause analysis and corrective action planning.
- Strong analytical thinking with confidence interpreting large volumes of operational data.
- Effective negotiation skills when dealing with carriers and service providers.
- Experience communicating results, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership is preferred.
