Job summary

A leading engineering consulting firm in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Planning Engineer to support Oil & Gas engineering projects. The ideal candidate will manage planning and scheduling, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure timely delivery of engineering documents. Applicants should have 8–15 years of experience in Planning or Project Controls in Oil & Gas, possess a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, and be proficient in Primavera P6. Excellent communication and analytical skills are required for this role.

Qualifications

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Planning Engineer to support Oil & Gas engineering projects. The role is responsible for planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, reporting, and coordination with project stakeholders to ensure timely execution of engineering deliverables in line with project requirements.

Job Responsibilities
  • Report directly to the Project Engineering Manager on the progress and activities of all engineering disciplines
  • Coordinate on a day-to-day basis with the Contractors Project Planning Manager / Engineer for project control, planning, and reporting activities
  • Monitor and track the progress of engineering works, schedules, and activities across all disciplines
  • Prepare and issue bi-weekly and monthly progress reports as per project requirements
  • Prepare, issue, and track progress invoices, including follow-up on payment receipts
  • Maintain and follow up on action lists, identifying and highlighting issues that may impact project progress
  • Establish and maintain project planning tools such as Primavera P6 or equivalent software to track project progress
  • Ensure each engineering discipline submits documents as per the approved document submission plan
  • Identify delays and prepare catch-up / recovery plans in coordination with discipline leads
  • Independently develop and manage the engineering document submission schedule, ensuring logical sequencing for Oil & Gas projects
  • Ensure planning activities align with project milestones, contractual requirements, and reporting standards
Key Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering (any discipline)
  • 8–15 years of experience in Planning / Project Controls for Oil & Gas or EPC projects
  • Proven experience in engineering phase planning and control
  • Strong exposure to multidisciplinary engineering coordination
  • Familiar with Primavera P6 (mandatory), MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Other project management / planning tools (advantage)
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Excellent coordination and communication abilitiesAbility to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good understanding of engineering deliverables and document control logic for Oil & Gas projects
  • Experience interfacing with Client / PMC / Contractor teams
