Manager – Special Handling Logistics in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is a full‑time operations leadership role within Amazon’s Package‑Freight Delivery business. Key Responsibilities
- Lead operational oversight across assigned Special Handling Network sites.
- Monitor site performance, compliance, workflow stability, productivity, and customer‑service indicators.
- Own the deployment of continuous improvement standards in collaboration with MENA process owners, Amazon Customer Excellence Systems, and local process managers.
- Identify operational gaps and implement practical improvements across multiple locations.
- Lead Area Managers, Operations Supervisors, and supporting operational teams.
- Set clear expectations for safety, productivity, quality, customer experience, and procedural compliance.
- Coach managers and supervisors on performance management, operational discipline, and employee development.
- Train logistics supervisors and associates on standard operating procedures, network requirements, and approved working practices.
- Ensure teams understand operational restrictions, compliance requirements, and escalation mechanisms.
- Conduct structured site audits based on standard operating procedures and network standards.
- Review audit findings and identify recurring weaknesses, control failures, and improvement opportunities.
- Develop corrective and preventive actions following operational or compliance findings.
- Analyze performance metrics and data collected from multiple systems and locations.
- Identify useful patterns, exceptions, trends, and emerging operational risks.
- Anticipate the likely impact of current performance trends on capacity, service, cost, and customer experience.
- Communicate operational concerns promptly and provide clear recommendations for recovery.
- Serve as a liaison between internal teams, external providers, and site stakeholders.
- Maintain appropriate information confidentiality when coordinating with internal and external parties.
- Support new site launches, operational changes, and network‑expansion initiatives.
- Ensure launch activities remain aligned with agreed schedules, performance expectations, and compliance requirements.
- Partner with stakeholders to resolve operational barriers and maintain consistent network execution.
- Apply Lean methods and continuous improvement tools to reduce waste, delays, defects, and process variation.
- Develop scalable processes and standards that can be implemented across multiple sites.
- Maintain clear operational reports, audit records, action plans, performance trackers, and leadership updates.
- Work flexible shifts when required, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent recognized qualification.
- Alternatively, at least 2 years of permanent Amazon employment experience may be considered.
- Minimum 3 years of employee and performance management experience.
- Proven experience leading managers, supervisors, or frontline operational teams.
- Experience monitoring several logistics, fulfillment, distribution, or transportation sites is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of operational compliance, standard operating procedures, and site‑audit practices.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret performance data and identify operational implications.
- Experience using metrics to improve productivity, quality, cost, safety, or customer experience.
- At least 3 years of exposure to performance metrics, process improvement, or Lean techniques is preferred.
- Strong problem‑solving ability with the discipline to investigate issues beyond surface‑level symptoms.
