Role Context
The Logistics Manager - Special Handling supports Amazon's Specialty Fulfillment network by ensuring assigned sites operate safely, efficiently, and in line with operational standards. The role has direct responsibility for monitoring site performance, identifying disruption patterns, improving processes, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to support timely launches and reliable day-to-day operations. By using data, Lean methods, audits, and strong people leadership, this position helps improve customer experience, operational discipline, and network scalability across special handling logistics.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor operations across assigned specialty fulfillment and AMXL sites to ensure performance, compliance, and process discipline.
- Own deployment of continuous improvement initiatives and network standards in partnership with MENA Process Owners, MENA ACES, and local Process Managers.
- Review site performance, identify operational gaps, and suggest practical improvements that support productivity, quality, and customer experience.
- Lead and guide Area Managers, Logistics Supervisors, and associates to ensure operational actions follow approved norms, processes, and standards.
- Act as a liaison between internal teams, external partners, and site stakeholders while protecting objectives, operational limits, conformance requirements, and information privacy.
- Audit sites against SOPs, operational restrictions, compliance expectations, and network standards.
- Analyze audit findings and operational data to recommend process improvement initiatives and corrective actions.
- Identify useful data from multiple sources, connect trends, and take timely action to prevent service disruptions.
- Forecast operational implications based on current data, site patterns, process behavior, and performance trends.
- Support timely launches and operational readiness by coordinating actions with stakeholders and ensuring execution plans are clear.
- Train supervisors and associates on required processes, conformance practices, and operational expectations.
- Communicate issues, risks, and progress updates clearly and promptly to relevant teams and leaders.
- Drive customer-focused improvements that help maintain reliable service quality across special handling and heavy‑item logistics operations.
- Use Lean methods and performance metrics to improve speed, consistency, cost control, and operational execution.
- Support a positive working environment by building healthy relationships with teams, partners, and site leaders.
- Work flexible shifts, weekends, nights, or holidays when required to support operational needs.
Ideal Profile
This role is suitable for a logistics operations leader who can manage people, read performance data, solve problems quickly, and improve processes in a fast‑moving fulfillment environment.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification is required.
- 3 years of employee management and performance management experience.
- 2 years of Amazon blue badge or full‑time employee experience may be considered as an equivalent pathway where applicable.
- Experience managing operational teams in logistics, fulfillment, transportation, delivery, warehouse, or supply chain environments.
- Strong understanding of site operations, performance metrics, process compliance, and operational improvement.
- Ability to monitor multiple sites and coordinate actions across different teams and stakeholders.
- Experience using data to identify trends, detect disruptions, and recommend practical solutions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to notify issues clearly, problem solve, and keep stakeholders aligned.
- Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and operational focus.
- Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, or Lean techniques is preferred.
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to dive deep into details and foresee business or operational implications.
