Job description

Job Purpose

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for delivering daily hands‑on maintenance services across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and general facility systems to ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the Velodrome.

The role supports both planned and reactive maintenance activities, conducts regular inspections, coordinates with internal teams and external service providers, and ensures full compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.

The position also contributes to event operations, maintains accurate records, and supports continuous improvement in facility standards and customer satisfaction.

Roles, Responsibilities & Duties
  • Carry out daily hands‑on maintenance tasks covering electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and general repairs across the venue.
  • Respond promptly to corrective and reactive maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption to venue operations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of interior and exterior areas, identifying issues related to cleanliness, safety, and asset preservation.
  • Collaborate with facility management service providers and internal teams to support both hard and soft FM services (cleaning, landscaping, pest control, waste management).
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain building systems (including BMS), and submit weekly utility readings to support energy and water usage tracking.
  • Follow Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Maintenance Performance Guide (MPG) schedules, ensuring timely and high-quality completion.
  • Support event setup and breakdown activities, working closely with venue teams to ensure successful execution.
  • Maintain a safe and compliant environment by strictly following HSE practices, Permit to Work procedures, and risk assessments.
  • Respond to emergencies or urgent maintenance issues, ensuring all actions are accurately logged and reported.
  • Assist with procurement activities by reviewing vendor service quality and reporting performance issues.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance tasks, stock usage, faults, and repairs, ensuring timely reporting for management review.
  • Perform routine quality assurance audits in line with Modon policies and document findings.
  • Support the development of cleaning and maintenance schedules based on contract requirements and venue operational needs.
  • Engage with clients and end‑users to address maintenance concerns, ensuring a high standard of customer service.
  • Provide training to team members when required and support performance appraisal processes.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory standards, including Civil Defense and Istidafa requirements, and prepare for periodic inspections.
  • Monitor and manage FM stock levels; report consumable usage to relevant departments.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce electricity and water consumption and support the implementation of efficiency measures.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Modon policies and relevant legislation, including health and safety, sustainability, equality, and financial regulations.
  • Carry out additional facilities management tasks as assigned by leadership.
Qualification & Experience
  • Relevant maintenance or engineering qualifications (Mechanical/Electrical).
  • Membership in IWFM/BIFM preferred (minimum basic membership required).
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience, including at least 3 years in the UAE.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in sports or event venues.
  • Experience with new facility operations, including snagging and managing latent defect lists during and post‑handover.
Skills & Competencies
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and general maintenance (Essential).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to propose innovative solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage).
  • Strong organizational, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and perform in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and extended shifts (Essential).
  • Ability to maintain strong, trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work in diverse environments.
  • UAE Driving License (Essential).
