About the Role

We are seeking a highly driven Chief of Staff to the CEO (M&A Focus) to act as a strategic partner and execution lead, supporting senior leadership in driving growth, expansion, and value creation across global markets, with a strong emphasis on Africa.

This role combines strategy, finance, analytics, and executive communication, and is ideal for a high-calibre professional from a top-tier management consulting, financial advisory, or corporate strategy background, with exposure to the mining, metals, or natural resources sector.

The Chief of Staff will play a critical role in strategic planning, investment evaluation, board-level reporting, and cross-functional execution, ensuring leadership priorities are translated into measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Advisory & Business Preparedness
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on strategic planning, market entry, business expansion, and organizational readiness.
  • Support evaluation of acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures, and geographic expansion initiatives.
  • Conduct strategic assessments, scenario planning, risk analysis, and investment evaluations to support decision-making.
Financial & Analytical Leadership
  • Develop and review business cases, financial models, investment appraisals, ROI analysis, and scenario simulations.
  • Analyse business performance, KPIs, capital allocation, project economics, and operating metrics.
  • Translate complex financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership.
Executive Presentation & Communication
  • Prepare high-quality board and investor presentations, leadership decks, investment memorandums, and strategic briefing notes.
  • Ensure executive communications are accurate, data-driven, and structured with strong storytelling.
  • Support leadership messaging and external stakeholder communications as required.
Business Execution & Cross-Functional Alignment
  • Drive execution of strategic initiatives led by senior leadership and track milestones, risks, and outcomes.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Operations, Projects, M&A, HR, Legal, and external advisors to ensure timely delivery.
  • Support governance processes, leadership cadence, and action tracking.
Market Intelligence & Industry Insight
  • Monitor global mining, metals, and minerals markets, commodity trends, regulatory developments, and geopolitical risks.
  • Provide insights on competitive benchmarking, project viability, cost structures, and value-chain opportunities, particularly in Africa.
Governance, Confidentiality & Stakeholder Management
  • Handle sensitive business, financial, and strategic information with a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
Candidate Profile
Education
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong preference for candidates with a financial academic background.
  • MBA, CFA, or Masters degree is highly preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in:
    • Strategy consulting, financial advisory, investment advisory, corporate strategy, or similar roles.
    • Exposure to mining, metals, natural resources, infrastructure, or energy sectors.
  • Proven experience working with C-suite and board-level stakeholders.
  • Strong background in financial modelling, strategic analysis, business case development, and executive reporting.
Industry Knowledge
  • Solid understanding of the global mining, metals, and minerals ecosystem.
  • Exposure to Africa-focused investments or operations is highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of mining lifecycle, project economics, regulatory frameworks, and commodity dynamics.
