Role Context

The BIM CAD Technician will convert drainage engineering concepts and design information into clear, coordinated, and technically consistent digital deliverables. Working alongside BIM Leads, Design Leads, and engineers, the position supports stormwater and wet utility design from project setup through final issue. Accurate modeling and disciplined drawing control will help improve constructability, reduce coordination clashes, support quantity planning, and maintain reliable design information throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with BIM Leads, Design Leads, and engineers to complete stormwater and wet utility deliverables.
• Follow approved BIM execution requirements, CAD standards, project procedures, and digital delivery processes.
• Develop engineering drawings from sketches, calculations, markups, and general design information.
• Prepare arrangements, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometric views, and component details.
• Produce coordinated stormwater drainage drawings suitable for multidisciplinary design development.
• Maintain BIM activities from initial project setup through final model and drawing completion.
• Update models as engineering information develops and approved changes are introduced.
• Review drawings for clarity, technical presentation, consistency, and compliance with project standards.
• Incorporate QA/QC comments and ensure corrected information is reflected across related deliverables.
• Create parametric and non-parametric BIM families for drainage and utility components.
• Maintain suitable geometry, parameters, naming conventions, and information within project model content.
• Apply Level of Development requirements according to the relevant project stage.
• Coordinate model detail and information content with agreed LOD requirements.
• Use Autodesk Navisworks for multidisciplinary model review and coordination.
• Perform clash detection between stormwater networks, wet utilities, roads, structures, and other disciplines.
• Prepare clash reports and support resolution of identified coordination issues.
• Update models following agreed clash resolution actions.
• Generate schedules and quantity information from coordinated BIM models.
• Verify model-based quantities before they are used for reporting or design purposes.
• Support pipe network layouts, chambers, manholes, drainage structures, and associated wet utility components.
• Coordinate drainage alignments with road geometry, levels, existing services, and proposed infrastructure.
• Use Autodesk Civil 3D for infrastructure and utility drafting requirements.
• Produce detailed design drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Maintain drawing and model revisions throughout the design process.
• Work within ProjectWise and Autodesk Construction Cloud when used as the project Common Data Environment.
• Follow controlled file naming, information sharing, and document status procedures.
• Support responses to design review comments and multidisciplinary coordination requirements.
• Ensure BIM models, CAD drawings, schedules, and extracted quantities remain aligned.
• Complete assigned modeling and drafting tasks within agreed project schedules.

Ideal Profile

Candidates should hold a diploma or Bachelor 's degree in Civil Engineering. A minimum of 5 years of CAD drafting experience in the Middle East or UAE is required, particularly on wet utilities projects. Applicants should have practical experience supporting stormwater drainage, utility networks, or comparable infrastructure design assignments. Strong working knowledge of MicroStation, Autodesk Civil 3D, and AutoCAD is required. Candidates should understand BIM modeling workflows, project information requirements, coordination processes, and Level of Development standards. Experience with Navisworks for clash detection and coordination reporting will be advantageous. Applicants should be capable of creating both parametric and non-parametric model content. Experience producing model schedules and quantity extractions is expected. Knowledge of ProjectWise and Autodesk Construction Cloud will support effective Common Data Environment workflows. Candidates should demonstrate strong attention to drawing presentation, model accuracy, revision management, and QA/QC requirements. Excellent written and spoken English is required for coordination with engineering and BIM teams.
