Role Context

The Senior BIM CAD Technician will provide advanced modelling and drafting support across infrastructure projects involving complex utility networks and coordinated design interfaces. The role requires ownership of BIM activities from initial project setup through model development, coordination, submission, revision, and final archiving. Accurate utility modelling, controlled information exchange, clash resolution, and high-quality drawing production will help engineering teams reduce design conflicts, improve constructability, and deliver compliant project information within demanding schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed BIM models and CAD drawings for infrastructure wet and dry utility networks.
• Coordinate directly with BIM Managers, CAD Managers, Design Leads, and engineers to maintain alignment with project delivery requirements.
• Interpret engineering sketches, design inputs, technical information, and multidisciplinary references when developing drawings and models.
• Prepare layouts, arrangements, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, utility sections, routing plans, and component details.
• Manage BIM-related activities throughout project initiation, model production, coordination, submission, revision, and close-out stages.
• Develop and update utility pipe network models in accordance with approved design criteria and infrastructure requirements.
• Coordinate design information between different CAD and BIM teams while identifying unresolved interfaces and missing inputs.
• Carry out clash detection and support technical resolution of conflicts involving roads, utilities, structures, and other disciplines.
• Review drawings for accuracy, clarity, presentation quality, and adherence to approved drafting and QA/QC procedures.
• Create project-specific parametric and non-parametric BIM families and reusable modelling content.
• Generate model schedules and quantity information to support engineering reviews and project reporting.
• Maintain complete records of drawing revisions, design changes, model updates, and coordination decisions.
• Manage structured digital archiving of models, drawings, submissions, and supporting technical documents.
• Coordinate design discrepancies with engineers and discipline leads before formal submission.
• Apply quality control checks during model and drawing development to minimize rework and late-stage corrections.
• Optimize CAD production by improving templates, software settings, workflows, and supporting tools.
• Assist with right-of-way drawings, infrastructure cross sections, and utility routing documentation.
• Participate in model-based design reviews and BIM issue management activities.
• Contribute technical knowledge to BIM team development and internal knowledge-sharing activities.

Ideal Profile

A Bachelor 's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering is required. Candidates should have at least 10 years of CAD drafting and BIM experience gained within the Middle East or UAE, with strong involvement in infrastructure wet and dry utility projects. A minimum of 3 years of practical utility pipe network modelling experience is expected. Advanced capability in AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, and Navisworks is essential, while MicroStation experience will be beneficial. The position requires strong knowledge of Common Data Environment workflows and model production using Autodesk Forma and Bentley ProjectWise. Applicants should have detailed knowledge of BIM processes, model coordination, LOD requirements, drawing production, and multidisciplinary digital delivery. Experience with clash detection, issue management, and model-based design reviews is important. Knowledge of DEWA, Dubai Municipality, and RTA standards is required, together with familiarity with existing utility coordination practices in Dubai. Understanding of ISO 19650 information management principles will be an advantage.
