Parsons Corporation is seeking a BIM and CAD specialist to support multidisciplinary design teams, produce reliable project models, and deliver accurate submissions for clients, stakeholders, and Dubai authorities.
The Senior BIM-CAD Technician - Digital Utilities will manage the production and coordination of infrastructure models and technical drawings from project initiation through final delivery. The position will transform engineering sketches, surveys, calculations, and design inputs into accurate utility networks, profiles, layouts, cross-sections, assemblies, isometrics, and detailed components. Close collaboration with BIM managers, engineers, design leads, and CAD teams will be required to identify interface problems, resolve clashes, and maintain consistent model information. The role will support better design quality, reduced rework, efficient authority approvals, and dependable digital project records.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain BIM models and CAD drawings for wet utilities, dry utilities, roads, drainage, and related infrastructure systems.
- Develop utility network layouts, longitudinal profiles, routing plans, cross-sections, assemblies, flow sheets, isometrics, and construction details.
- Build and update utility pipe networks in Autodesk Civil 3D using approved engineering and survey information.
- Coordinate design requirements with BIM managers, design leads, civil engineers, and multidisciplinary CAD teams.
- Review incoming technical information and identify missing inputs, contradictory data, or unresolved design interfaces.
- Conduct model coordination and clash detection using Navisworks.
- Register coordination issues, assign actions, monitor responses, and confirm closure of resolved clashes.
- Identify conflicts between proposed networks, existing utilities, road corridors, structures, drainage, and right-of-way limits.
- Manage BIM activities through model setup, production, checking, submission, revision, and project closeout.
- Apply approved BIM procedures, naming standards, folder structures, model breakdowns, and information exchange protocols.
- Review drawings for technical accuracy, readability, annotation, presentation, and compliance with project requirements.
- Perform quality checks in accordance with established QA and QC procedures.
- Create parametric and non-parametric families, templates, blocks, and reusable modelling content.
- Produce model schedules, quantity extractions, and structured design data.
- Support concept, preliminary, detailed design, authority, tender, and construction submissions.
- Ensure deliverables comply with DEWA, Dubai Municipality, RTA, and other applicable authority standards.
- Apply the required Level of Development to model elements at each project stage.
- Maintain records of design revisions, coordination comments, technical decisions, approvals, and issued updates.
- Manage project information through Autodesk Forma, Bentley ProjectWise, and approved Common Data Environment platforms.
- Maintain an organized digital archive for completed drawings, models, schedules, reports, and supporting documents.
- Coordinate with engineers to resolve inconsistencies between models, drawings, calculations, surveys, and technical instructions.
- Customize CAD templates, tools, workspaces, and production methods to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Prepare right-of-way drawings, utility corridors, routing studies, and infrastructure cross-sections.
- Support internal BIM training and share technical knowledge with less experienced team members.
- Manage several design assignments while maintaining accuracy, traceability, quality, and agreed deadlines.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of CAD drafting and BIM experience in the UAE or wider Middle East and Africa region.
- At least 3 years of practical utility pipe network modelling experience.
- Strong experience supporting wet and dry utility infrastructure projects.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, and Navisworks.
- Practical knowledge of Autodesk Forma and Bentley ProjectWise.
- Familiarity with MicroStation is preferred.
- Strong understanding of BIM modelling processes and Level of Development requirements.
- Experience managing project information through a Common Data Environment.
- Working knowledge of ISO 19650 information management principles.
- Proven capability in clash detection, issue tracking, model coordination, and design review.
- Good knowledge of DEWA, Dubai Municipality, and RTA requirements.
- Understanding of existing utility protection, diversion, relocation, and interface management.
- Ability to prepare utility models, layouts, profiles, cross-sections, routing plans, and detailed drawings.
- Experience generating model-based schedules and quantity information.
- Strong knowledge of drawing checking, document control, revision management, and digital archiving.
- Ability to interpret engineering sketches, design calculations, survey data, and technical instructions.
- Practical problem‑solving ability with a focus on resolving coordination issues before submission.
- Capacity to manage multiple projects and competing delivery dates.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
