The BIM CAD Technician will translate engineering inputs into accurate models, layouts, and construction-ready drawings for complex dry utility systems. The position supports electrical and communications infrastructure throughout design development while coordinating utility routes with civil, structural, transportation, and underground works. Careful model preparation and drawing control will help minimize clashes, improve design consistency, and support efficient project delivery.
- Prepare BIM models and CAD drawings for MV and LV power distribution networks.
- Develop layouts for external lighting, telecommunications, and security systems.
- Support dry utility design associated with pump stations, bridges, tunnels, roads, and other infrastructure assets.
- Work closely with BIM Managers, CAD Managers, Design Leads, and engineers to deliver assigned packages.
- Convert engineering sketches, calculations, and technical information into accurate drawings and coordinated models.
- Produce general arrangements, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, and component details.
- Follow project drafting procedures, model standards, naming conventions, and quality requirements.
- Review drawings for readability, accuracy, presentation, and compliance before formal issue.
- Incorporate technical review comments and maintain correct revision status.
- Apply company QA/QC requirements throughout drawing and model production.
- Create project-specific parametric and non-parametric BIM families.
- Develop model content suitable for repeated use across dry utility systems.
- Coordinate electrical and communications networks with roads, structures, wet utilities, drainage, landscaping, and other disciplines.
- Identify clashes and spatial conflicts during multidisciplinary coordination.
- Use Navisworks to review federated models and assist with clash detection.
- Update models following approved coordination decisions and engineering changes.
- Use Civil 3D for infrastructure design coordination and utility alignment work.
- Apply Revit where required for BIM modeling, families, and associated infrastructure components.
- Prepare detailed production drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Maintain consistency between CAD deliverables and BIM information.
- Organize project data within ProjectWise and Autodesk Construction Cloud environments.
- Follow Common Data Environment procedures for file sharing, revision control, and design collaboration.
- Support utility drawing submissions for technical reviews and local authority approvals.
- Apply relevant DEWA, SEWA, Etihad WE, Dubai Municipality, and project-specific requirements where applicable.
- Assist engineers in resolving utility routing and constructability issues.
- Coordinate changes arising from design reviews, authority comments, or multidisciplinary meetings.
- Maintain accurate digital records of issued models and drawings.
- Complete assigned deliverables in accordance with project schedules and agreed production priorities.
Candidates should hold a Bachelor 's degree in Engineering. A minimum of 5 years of CAD drafting experience is required within infrastructure and dry utilities projects. Applicants should have direct exposure to MV and LV power distribution, lighting, telecommunications, security networks, pump stations, bridges, tunnels, or related infrastructure systems. Strong practical capability in Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and MicroStation is required. Candidates should understand BIM workflows, multidisciplinary model coordination, drawing production, and digital information management. Experience creating parametric and non-parametric families will be valuable. Applicants should be able to interpret engineering drawings, sketches, utility layouts, and technical design information with limited supervision. Knowledge of UAE electricity authority requirements is preferred. Familiarity with DEWA, SEWA, Etihad WE, and Dubai Municipality standards will be advantageous. Experience using ProjectWise and Autodesk Construction Cloud within a Common Data Environment is expected. Candidates should demonstrate strong attention to drawing accuracy, model quality, coordination, and timely delivery. Fluent written and spoken English is required for technical communication and project coordination.
