The BIM CAD Technician will support infrastructure engineering teams by creating and maintaining accurate technical drawings and digital models for dry utility networks. The position connects electrical, telecom, security, and lighting design with wider civil infrastructure, ensuring that routes, crossings, equipment, and interfaces remain coordinated throughout design development. Reliable digital production will improve constructability, reduce design clashes, support authority reviews, and strengthen overall project delivery quality.
- Prepare BIM models and CAD drawings for infrastructure dry utility systems.
- Develop MV and LV power distribution layouts in accordance with engineering design inputs.
- Produce drawings for street lighting, telecommunications, and security network infrastructure.
- Support dry utility design for pump stations, bridges, tunnels, roads, and associated civil works.
- Coordinate closely with BIM Managers, CAD Managers, Design Leads, and discipline engineers.
- Transform engineering sketches and technical information into clear and accurate project deliverables.
- Prepare general arrangements, utility layouts, assemblies, isometric details, flow sheets, and component drawings.
- Follow established CAD and BIM standards throughout drawing and model preparation.
- Review completed drawings for legibility, accuracy, consistency, and presentation before submission.
- Implement project QA/QC comments and maintain accurate revision records.
- Create parametric and non-parametric BIM families for project-specific requirements.
- Maintain consistent object properties, naming conventions, and model information.
- Coordinate power, telecom, lighting, and security networks with roads, wet utilities, drainage, structures, and landscape works.
- Detect routing conflicts and support resolution before formal design issue.
- Use Navisworks to review coordinated models and identify clashes.
- Update design models following coordination reviews and approved engineering changes.
- Use Civil 3D to support infrastructure layouts, alignments, and utility coordination.
- Apply Revit for relevant BIM modeling and family development activities.
- Produce technical drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Maintain consistency between BIM outputs and associated CAD deliverables.
- Work within ProjectWise and Autodesk Construction Cloud environments for controlled project information exchange.
- Follow Common Data Environment procedures for document status, file naming, revisions, and collaboration.
- Support preparation of drawings and models for internal reviews and authority submissions.
- Apply relevant DEWA, SEWA, Etihad WE, Dubai Municipality, and project-specific standards where applicable.
- Coordinate updates arising from authority comments, technical reviews, or multidisciplinary design meetings.
- Assist engineers with utility routing, crossing details, clearances, and interface coordination.
- Maintain current digital records of issued drawings, models, and design revisions.
- Complete assigned BIM and CAD deliverables in line with project schedules and quality expectations.
Candidates should hold a Bachelor 's degree in Engineering. A minimum of 5 years of CAD drafting experience is required on infrastructure and dry utilities projects. Applicants should have practical exposure to MV and LV power distribution, lighting systems, telecommunications, security networks, pump stations, bridges, tunnels, or comparable infrastructure works. Strong working knowledge of Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and MicroStation is required. Candidates should understand BIM workflows, model coordination, drawing production, multidisciplinary interfaces, and project information management. Experience creating parametric and non-parametric families is expected. Applicants should be capable of interpreting engineering sketches, layouts, technical design inputs, and project standards with minimal supervision. Knowledge of UAE electricity authority standards and regulations is preferred. Familiarity with DEWA, SEWA, Etihad WE, and Dubai Municipality requirements will be advantageous. Experience using ProjectWise and Autodesk Construction Cloud within a Common Data Environment is important. Candidates should demonstrate precision in digital production, strong coordination awareness, and consistent compliance with QA/QC requirements. Fluent written and spoken English is required.
