Job summary

Majid Al Futtaim is seeking an Area Manager for its Dubai retail operations. This multi-store leadership role drives commercial and operational performance, people development, and customer experience across a defined group of stores.

You will coach Store Managers, translate country plans into store-level actions, maintain regular performance reviews, and own area P&L to deliver results with accountability and integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Business, Management or Retail Management.
• Minimum 8 years of retail experience.
• At least 3 years in a senior store, area or multi-site leadership role.

Area Leadership and Performance

• Lead, coach, and hold Store Managers accountable for area priorities, balanced scorecard targets, and agreed execution standards.
• Translate country and division plans into practical store-level actions covering commercial, operational, people, and customer priorities.
• Maintain strong leadership visibility through regular store visits, structured performance reviews, and timely follow-up on identified gaps and risks.
• Build a culture of ownership, compliance, collaboration, and continuous improvement across stores within the assigned area.
• Establish clear objectives for Store Managers and strengthen their capability through regular coaching, feedback, and performance conversations.
• Support employee engagement by ensuring frontline teams are heard, supported, and followed up with appropriate action.
• Manage performance improvement plans where required, maintaining clear expectations, documentation, timelines, and close coaching.

Commercial and P and L Accountability

Own area-level P and L delivery across sales, margin, waste, shrinkage, staff costs, operating expenses, and overall profitability. Use commercial, inventory, margin, shrinkage, and customer data to identify performance gaps and agree corrective actions with Store Managers. The Area Manager is expected to maintain a clear understanding of store performance and ensure that commercial priorities are converted into measurable operational actions.

Store Operations and Customer Experience

• Ensure consistent execution of merchandising, promotions, assortment, product availability, inventory, and display standards.
• Drive product freshness across fresh food and short-life categories through effective rotation, date-code controls, disciplined replenishment, and waste reduction.
• Maintain focus on hygiene, food safety, product quality, availability, and service standards.
• Review store performance and address operational issues that could affect commercial results or the customer experience.
• Promote consistent execution across the area while holding individual stores accountable for agreed standards and targets.
