Job summary
A leading IT service provider in Gauteng is seeking an Onsite Desktop Engineer to deliver fast, friendly, and highly technical first- and second-line IT support. This role focuses on ensuring end-users experience minimal downtime with their Windows devices and Microsoft applications. Responsibilities include troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing Active Directory, and supporting VoIP systems. The ideal candidate should have a diploma or degree in IT, along with relevant certifications such as A+, N+, and Security+.
Qualifications
- Matric, Diploma or Degree in IT or related field.
- Microsoft Qualification, A+, N+, and Security+ certifications.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows desktops and laptops.
- Provide on-site and remote support for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Set up and support Microsoft applications like Outlook and Teams.
- Manage Active Directory user accounts and permissions.
- Assist with network connectivity issues (LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN).

- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows desktops and laptops.
- Provide on-site and remote support for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Set up and support Microsoft applications (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint).
- Manage Active Directory user accounts, permissions, and group policies.
- Install and maintain printers, scanners, and peripheral devices.
- Assist with network connectivity issues (LAN, Wi‑Fi, VPN).
- Perform hardware repairs and upgrades (RAM, HDD/SSD, screens, etc.).
- Manage backup and recovery processes.
- Support IP telephony/VoIP systems (e.g., 3CX, Microsoft Teams Phone).
- Maintain IT asset register and software licensing.
- Assist with new user onboarding and offboarding.
- Document support tickets and resolutions in the helpdesk system.
- Adhere to IT security policies and procedures.
