Zusammenfassung
A Maritime Operations Company based in Cape Town is seeking an individual responsible for managing waste disposal and recycling operations. The role requires adherence to safety and environmental regulations while supervising the Recycling Center operations. Ideal candidates should have experience in waste management and a solid understanding of health and safety protocols. The position is pivotal for ensuring compliance with relevant maritime standards and maintaining cleanliness aboard.
Qualifikationen
- Experience with waste management and recycling protocols.
- Knowledge of MARPOL and SOLAS regulations.
- Ability to work safely in engine spaces.
Aufgaben
- Control and manage garbage disposal and segregation.
- Ensure compliance with HESS regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the Recycling Center.
Duties include (but not limited to):
Control and manage the garbage disposal, correct garbage segregation, management of hazardous waste, and hazardous waste disposal. General oversight, management, and supervision of the Recycling Center.
Has access to Engine Spaces for working purposes with permission of the EOOW (following TEC-1302- for access log required for Engine Spaces or e-tracking access system where applicable)
Fulfills all regulations in force (MARPOL, SOLAS, Global HESS, applicable Safety rules, etc.).
Contributing to the correct operation of the incinerator, including properly filling the garbage silos, managing dryer plan in filling, and emptying, reporting abnormalities to the engine control room, managing, and offloading incinerator ashes.
Cleanliness and safety of the Recycling Center, correct implementation of the Garbage Management Plan (GMP) in agreement with the Staff Captain or Recycling Operations Officer.
Keeping appropriate garbage records, and maintaining logs.
Ensuring safe garbage storage and garbage safety distances, ensuring the cleanliness of the Recycling Center.
Cleaning and minor repair works, cooperating with the Engine Department.
Disposal of garbage to meet the offload instructions by the Staff Captain or Recycling Operations Officer. Following the instructions of the Staff Chief Engineer on garbage equipment-related matters, if needed.
Supports the food waste measurement and pulper process in the Recycling Center.
Supports an effective and sustainable health and safety culture and environment on board, follows strictly HESS regulations and any Health and Safety Protocols in force to prevent the spread of diseases on board, and reports to the Head of Department any observed violations of the Company's health procedures.
