Placements24 seeks a Well Intervention Specialist to enhance production from assets in Paarl, Western Cape. The role focuses on planning, executing and supervising P&A, CT, slickline, wireline and E-line interventions with a strong emphasis on safety and asset integrity.

You will coordinate with production engineers, operations teams and service providers to maximise hydrocarbon flow and maintain asset value through innovative well management strategies in the South African energy landscape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in well intervention operations in Oil & Gas.
• In-depth knowledge of intervention techniques: Coiled Tubing, Wireline, Slickline, E-line, P&A operations.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent operator in the Oil & Gas sector , is seeking a skilled Well Intervention Specialist to enhance production from existing assets in the Paarl, Western Cape region. This role focuses on planning, executing, and supervising various well intervention operations designed to maintain or improve hydrocarbon flow rates and asset integrity. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with technologies and procedures such as P&A (Plugged and Abandoned), CT (Coiled Tubing), slickline, wireline, and E-line operations. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong technical acumen, a commitment to safety, and the ability to manage complex operations effectively. You will collaborate closely with production engineers, operations teams, and service providers to ensure successful and efficient well interventions within the challenging South African energy landscape . • Plan and develop detailed well intervention programs, including scope, procedures, and risk assessments.
• Supervise and oversee the execution of well intervention operations on location.

• Monitor well performance before, during, and after intervention operations.
• Analyze well data and provide recommendations for future interventions.
• Ensure accurate reporting of all intervention activities and outcomes.
• Manage inventory and logistics for intervention equipment and materials.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and implement effective solutions during interventions.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of well intervention techniques and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in well intervention operations within the Oil & Gas industry .
• In-depth knowledge of various intervention techniques: Coiled Tubing, Wireline, Slickline, E-line, P&A operations.
• Experience with downhole tools, equipment, and artificial lift systems.
• Strong understanding of well integrity principles and production optimization techniques.
• Excellent risk assessment and management skills.
• Proven leadership and supervisory capabilities.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
• Must be willing to travel and work on location as required for operations in South Africa .
