Placements24 is seeking a Well Intervention Specialist to enhance production from assets in the Paarl region. This hands-on role plans, executes and supervises interventions using CT, wireline, slickline, E-line, and P&A, with a strong safety focus.

You will collaborate with production engineers, operations teams, and service providers to optimize hydrocarbon flow and asset integrity, analyze data, and report outcomes, driving continuous improvement in well intervention techniques.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering
• 7+ years in well intervention in Oil & Gas
• Experience with Coiled Tubing, Wireline, Slickline, E-line, P&A operations
• Know downhole tools and artificial lift
• Strong risk assessment and leadership
• Willing to travel within South Africa

About the Role

Our client, a prominent operator in the Oil & Gas sector , is seeking a skilled Well Intervention Specialist to enhance production from existing assets in the Paarl, Western Cape region. This role focuses on planning, executing, and supervising various well intervention operations designed to maintain or improve hydrocarbon flow rates and asset integrity. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with technologies and procedures such as P&A (Plugged and Abandoned), CT (Coiled Tubing), slickline, wireline, and E-line operations. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong technical acumen, a commitment to safety, and the ability to manage complex operations effectively. You will collaborate closely with production engineers, operations teams, and service providers to ensure successful and efficient well interventions within the challenging South African energy landscape . Key Responsibilities

• Plan and develop detailed well intervention programs, including scope, procedures, and risk assessments.
• Supervise and oversee the execution of well intervention operations on location.
• Ensure all operations are conducted in strict adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
• Manage service providers and contractors involved in well intervention activities.
• Monitor well performance before, during, and after intervention operations.
• Analyze well data and provide recommendations for future interventions.
• Ensure accurate reporting of all intervention activities and outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in well intervention operations within the Oil & Gas industry.
• In-depth knowledge of various intervention techniques: Coiled Tubing, Wireline, Slickline, E-line, P&A operations.
• Experience with downhole tools, equipment, and artificial lift systems.
• Strong understanding of well integrity principles and production optimization techniques.
• Excellent risk assessment and management skills.
• Proven leadership and supervisory capabilities.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
• Must be willing to travel and work on location as required for operations in South Africa.
