About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Well Intervention Specialist to join their operations team based in **Bloemfontein, Free State**. This role focuses on the planning and execution of well intervention operations designed to maintain, restore, or enhance production from existing oil and gas wells. You will be responsible for ensuring these operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and within budget. This is an important role within the **Oil & Gas** sector, requiring hands-on expertise and a strong commitment to operational integrity in a non-traditional location for offshore/onshore E&P activities, potentially supporting specific downstream or upstream technical services.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and design well intervention operations, including workovers, P&A (Plug and Abandonment), and fishing jobs.
• Develop detailed procedures and risk assessments for all intervention activities.
• Supervise on-site execution of well intervention operations, ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards.
• Manage the selection and deployment of equipment, tools, and personnel required for interventions.
• Monitor well conditions and operational progress, making necessary adjustments to procedures.
• Conduct post-job analysis, including performance evaluation, cost review, and lessons learned.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Liaise with production teams, reservoir engineers, and other stakeholders to coordinate intervention activities.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of all well intervention operations.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in well intervention operations within the **Oil & Gas** industry.
• Proven experience in planning and executing various types of well interventions (e.g., workovers, completions, P&A).
• Strong understanding of wellbore integrity, fishing techniques, and completion systems.
• Knowledge of relevant equipment and service providers.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
• Strong safety mindset and commitment to HSE best practices.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently and travel as required for operations, primarily based in **Bloemfontein**. This role is not remote.
