About the Role

Our client, a significant operator in the Oil & Gas sector , is seeking a proficient Well Intervention Engineer to join their operations in East London, Eastern Cape . This role is crucial for optimizing production and ensuring the integrity of existing wells through expert planning and execution of intervention activities. The engineer will be responsible for developing strategies for well workovers, artificial lift optimization, and production enhancement. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a balance between on-site operational support and remote technical analysis and planning. We are looking for a candidate with a strong understanding of well mechanics, production systems, and a proven ability to solve complex well-related challenges. Your contributions will directly impact production efficiency and asset longevity. The role requires a proactive mindset and a commitment to safe and effective well management practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and supervise well intervention operations, including workovers, completions, and stimulation.
• Optimize artificial lift systems (e.g., ESPs, rod pumps, gas lift) to maximize production.
• Analyze well performance data and identify opportunities for production enhancement.
• Develop cost-effective intervention strategies to address well integrity issues, sand production, and scaling.
• Ensure all intervention activities comply with safety regulations and company standards.
• Prepare detailed well intervention programs, including equipment, procedures, and risk assessments.
• Liaise with drilling, production, and reservoir engineering teams to ensure integrated well management.
• Manage the procurement of services and equipment for well intervention operations.
• Monitor well performance post-intervention and evaluate program effectiveness.
• Stay current with new technologies and methodologies in well intervention and production optimization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in well intervention, well services, or production engineering within the Oil & Gas industry .
• Strong knowledge of well completion designs, artificial lift systems, and stimulation techniques.
• Experience in planning and executing well workovers and production optimization projects.
• Proficiency in well performance analysis and production software.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, managing both remote and on-site responsibilities.
• Must be legally authorized to work in South Africa .
• Experience with unconventional wells is an advantage.
