Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Civil Engineer specializing in Water and Sanitation to join a growing engineering consultancy in Mahikeng, North West. The role blends field site visits for inspection and oversight with office-based design and analysis, contributing to essential water supply, sewerage, and wastewater infrastructure projects.

You will design networks, perform hydraulic modeling, prepare documents, and liaise with clients and authorities to ensure compliance with SA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Water or Environmental Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in water and sanitation design and implementation.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, EPANET and WaterGEMS.
• Knowledge of South African water and sanitation policies and standards.
• Experience with project management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites around Mahikeng and vicinity.

Responsibilities

• Design water supply and distribution networks including pipelines and storage.
• Design sewerage networks and pumping stations.
• Assist in wastewater treatment plant design and effluent disposal.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and network modeling.
• Prepare drawings, specifications and tender documents.
• Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies.
• Ensure compliance with SA water and sanitation standards.
• Liaise with clients, municipalities and contractors.
• Provide technical support during construction and document reporting.
