Job summary

Placements24 is partnering with a reputable engineering consultancy in South Africa to hire a Civil Design Engineer focused on water and sanitation. The role is remote, enabling collaboration with a skilled team to design municipal water supply, distribution and wastewater systems.

The candidate will perform hydraulic modeling, prepare detailed designs, and support tender processes for public sector projects while maintaining regulatory and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• At least 5 years' experience in water and sanitation infrastructure design.
• Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng registration with ECSA preferred.
• Experience with water/wastewater treatment processes and pipelines.
• Proficient in hydraulic modeling software and CAD tools.
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability.
• Excellent analytical and remote collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design water and wastewater treatment systems, pipelines and related infrastructure.
• Perform hydraulic modeling and analysis for water networks and sewers.
• Prepare detailed designs, drawings, specs and cost estimates.
• Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments for new projects.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and environmental standards.
• Collaborate with remote project teams and respond to RFIs.
• Assist in tender preparation and bid processes.
• Stay updated on new technologies in water and sanitation.
