About the Role

Our client, a highly reputable civil engineering consulting firm situated in Klerksdorp, North West , is actively seeking a skilled Civil Design Engineer with a specialization in water and sanitation infrastructure. This role is central to designing and managing projects focused on potable water supply systems, wastewater treatment, and stormwater management within the region. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the provision of essential services through robust and sustainable engineering solutions. We are looking for an individual with strong technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality project outcomes. The position involves a Hybrid work arrangement, combining office-based design activities with essential site visits and project consultations in and around Klerksdorp, North West .

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop detailed plans for water supply networks, including treatment plants, pumping stations, and distribution systems.
• Design wastewater collection and treatment systems, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
• Plan and design stormwater management systems, including drainage networks and flood control measures.
• Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and tender documents using relevant design software.
• Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments for new infrastructure projects.
• Oversee the construction phase of projects, providing technical support and ensuring quality control.
• Collaborate with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Perform hydraulic modeling and analysis for water and wastewater systems.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant South African standards and regulations.
• Contribute to tender preparation and bid evaluation processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the design of water and sanitation infrastructure.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr. Eng. or Techni Eng.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (e.g., EPANET, SWMM) and CAD software.
• Strong understanding of water treatment processes, wastewater treatment technologies, and distribution networks.
• Knowledge of relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and environmental legislation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and report-writing abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to conduct site visits as needed.
