Placements24 is seeking a Civil Engineer specializing in Water and Sanitation to join a growing engineering consultancy in Mahikeng, North West. The role blends field site visits for inspection and oversight with office-based design and analysis, contributing to essential water supply, sewerage, and wastewater infrastructure projects.

You will design networks, perform hydraulic modeling, prepare documents, and liaise with clients and authorities to ensure compliance with SA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Water or Environmental Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in water and sanitation design and implementation.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, EPANET and WaterGEMS.
• Knowledge of South African water and sanitation policies and standards.
• Experience with project management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites around Mahikeng and vicinity.

About the Role

Our client, a growing engineering consultancy, is looking for a dedicated Civil Engineer specializing in Water and Sanitation Infrastructure to join their team in Mahikeng, North West. This role is central to the design and implementation of essential water supply networks, sewerage systems, and wastewater treatment facilities. The successful candidate will contribute to projects that significantly improve public health and service delivery within the Mahikeng, North West province. This hybrid position involves both site visits for inspection and project oversight, as well as office-based design and analysis. Key Responsibilities

• Design and plan water supply and distribution systems, including pipelines and storage reservoirs.
• Design and develop sewerage systems, including collection networks and pumping stations.
• Assist in the design of wastewater treatment plants and effluent disposal systems.
• Conduct hydraulic calculations and modeling for water and sanitation networks.
• Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies.
• Ensure compliance with national and provincial water and sanitation standards.
• Liaise with clients, municipal authorities, and contractors.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase of projects.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Water or Environmental Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng or Techni Eng) is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and implementation of water and sanitation projects.
• Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, EPANET, WaterGEMS).
• Good understanding of South African water and sanitation policies and standards.
• Experience with project management principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites in and around Mahikeng, North West.
