Placements24 is seeking an experienced Telecoms Systems Administrator to manage and maintain critical network infrastructure. This remote role includes occasional travel to Centurion, Gauteng, to support on-site needs and align with local teams.

You will handle VoIP, SIP, PBX systems, and security across LAN/WAN environments. The ideal candidate has 4+ years in telecom systems administration, strong scripting skills (Bash/Python), and solid problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years in telecommunications systems administration.
• Experience with VoIP, SIP, and PBX systems (Asterisk, FreePBX, Cisco CallManager).
• Experience with LAN/WAN, routers, and firewalls.

Responsibilities

• Administer, monitor, and maintain various telecommunications systems, including VoIP platforms, IP PBX, and associated hardware.
• Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure security and functionality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to voice and data communication systems.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and system configurations for telecommunications services.
• Implement and maintain network security measures for telecom systems to prevent unauthorized access.
• Develop and document system administration procedures, policies, and best practices.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to manage system integrations and new deployments.
• Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and support staff.

This role, based remotely but with occasional travel to Centurion, Gauteng , is vital for ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of our client's communication systems. • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting, with occasional site visits to Centurion .
