Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Telecommunications Field Technician to service clients in and around Sandton. This hybrid role blends on-site installations, maintenance and repairs of telecom systems with remote support as needed.

You will work with PBX, VoIP, network cabling, and fiber optics to ensure reliable voice and data connectivity for business clients, diagnose issues, perform upgrades, test networks, and document findings. A valid driver’s license and flexibility are required.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and repair telecommunications equipment including PBX systems, VoIP phones, and network cabling.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Telecommunications Field Technician to join their team, serving clients in and around Sandton . This hybrid role requires you to perform on-site installations, maintenance, and repairs of telecommunications equipment, while also offering remote support when needed. You will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of communication networks for businesses, involving the setup of various telecom systems. Key Responsibilities

• Install, service, and repair telecommunications equipment , including PBX systems, VoIP phones, and network cabling.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to voice and data communication systems.

• Test network connectivity and signal quality to ensure optimal performance.
• Respond to service calls in a timely manner and provide exceptional customer service.
• Document all service activities, findings, and resolutions accurately.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Telecommunications Field Technician or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of VoIP systems , PBX, network cabling (Cat5e, Cat6), and fiber optics.
• Proficiency with telecommunications testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to work flexible hours.
