Placements24 is recruiting a Telecommunications Technician to support Randburg operations in a hybrid role with on-site installation and remote monitoring. You will maintain voice, data, and video networks, ensuring reliability and performance.

The ideal candidate will understand VoIP, copper and fiber optics, read schematics, and troubleshoot with diagnostic tools, while traveling to multiple sites as needed. A customer-focused, problem-solving mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Telecommunications Technician or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of VoIP, copper, and fiber optic technologies.
• Ability to read telecom schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience with network testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
• Customer-focused with strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including switches, routers, modems, and PABX systems.
• Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on voice and data communication lines and systems.
• Manage and terminate network cabling installations, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues, both remotely and on-site.
• Respond to service requests and provide timely resolution for telecommunications-related problems.
• Document all network configurations, changes, and repair activities accurately.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technician to support their operations in Randburg . This hybrid role involves both on-site installation and maintenance, as well as remote monitoring and support of communication systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of our network infrastructure, including voice, data, and video services. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of telecommunications hardware, cabling, and network protocols, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and provide excellent service to internal and external stakeholders in the Gauteng area.
