Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Telecommunications Field Service Engineer to provide on-site technical support and installation services for clients in the Kimberley region. This hands-on role involves diagnosing and resolving telecom equipment issues to maintain network uptime and customer satisfaction.

You will travel within the territory, install and configure hardware such as routers, switches and phones, perform preventative maintenance, and provide training and documentation.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of field service or similar technical support experience.
• Technical qualification in telecommunications or electronics.
• Proficient with routers, switches and phones.
• Strong troubleshooting and network connectivity skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service.

About the Role

This hands-on role requires diagnosing and resolving technical issues with telecommunications equipment, ensuring client satisfaction and network uptime. You will be the face of our service delivery, requiring excellent technical skills, strong problem-solving capabilities, and outstanding customer interaction abilities. The ideal candidate is reliable, adaptable, and comfortable working independently in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment at customer sites.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to voice and data networks.
• Perform preventative maintenance checks and services to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Respond to service calls and emergency repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
• Provide technical training and support to clients on equipment usage.
• Document all service activities, findings, and resolutions accurately.

Requirements

• Technical qualification in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience as a Field Service Engineer or in a similar technical support role.

• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and travel within the assigned territory.
