Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Telecoms Field Engineer to provide on-site technical support in Queenstown and surrounding areas within the Eastern Cape. You will install, maintain and repair complex telecoms equipment, ensuring optimal connectivity for businesses and residences.

The role requires hands-on electronics or telecommunications training, strong problem-solving, and the ability to work independently while traveling extensively.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission telecommunications equipment (fiber, routers, base stations).
• Diagnose and resolve network connectivity and equipment issues.
• Perform scheduled maintenance, upgrades and preventative checks on network infrastructure.
• Respond to customer service requests and emergency repairs promptly.
• Document all field activities, materials used and time logs.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company procedures on site.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and resourceful Telecoms Field Engineer to provide on-site technical support and solutions within the Queenstown area and surrounding regions. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex telecommunications equipment and systems at customer locations. You will be the face of our client's technical expertise, ensuring seamless connectivity and optimal performance for businesses and residences in the Eastern Cape . This position demands a blend of technical proficiency, problem-solving acumen, and excellent customer interaction skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission telecommunications equipment, including fiber optic lines, routers, and base stations.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to network connectivity, performance, and equipment failures.
• Perform scheduled maintenance, upgrades, and preventative checks on network infrastructure.
• Respond efficiently to customer service requests and emergency repair situations.
• Accurately document all field activities, including work performed, materials used, and time logs.

Requirements

• Technical qualification in Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in telecommunications field service or installation.
• Proficiency with common networking tools, test equipment, and diagnostic software.
• Strong understanding of wireless, fiber optic, and broadband technologies.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and travel extensively within the designated area.
• Good physical condition to handle equipment and work in various site conditions.
