Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Technical Artist for their Vereeniging-based game development team. You will bridge art and programming, optimizing pipelines, building tools, and ensuring assets are efficiently integrated into the engine.

You will collaborate with artists and engineers to push real-time graphics, improve performance, and enhance visual quality across diverse projects in a fast-paced studio environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Technical Artist or in a similar role within the game industry.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, MEL, or C#.
• Strong understanding of 3D modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation principles.
• Experience with game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine and their asset pipelines.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain art pipelines, tools, and scripts to improve artist efficiency and asset quality.
• Optimize 3D models, textures, and animations for performance within the game engine.
• Work with engineers to implement and troubleshoot art-related features and systems.
• Create shaders and materials to achieve specific visual styles and rendering requirements.
• Provide technical support and guidance to the art team, troubleshooting asset integration issues.
