Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead HR operations in George, Western Cape in a hybrid role. You will develop policies, drive recruitment, onboarding, compensation and performance management, and align HR initiatives with growth objectives.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in HR/Industrial Psychology, 5+ years in HR with 2+ in management, strong SA labour-law knowledge, and excellent leadership and communication skills. Retail exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a comprehensive HR role, with at least 2 years in a management capacity.
• Proven experience in recruitment, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and performance management.
• Sound knowledge of South African labour laws and HR best practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in HRIS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work effectively in both remote and office environments.
• Demonstrated ability to foster positive employee relations.
• Experience within the retail sector is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in line with company objectives and legislative requirements.
• Oversee the recruitment and selection process to attract top talent.
• Manage employee onboarding, training, and development programs.
• Administer compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitiveness and equity.
• Handle employee relations issues, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
• Conduct performance appraisals and support performance improvement plans.
• Ensure compliance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, and other relevant legislation.
• Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases.
• Contribute to strategic workforce planning and talent management initiatives.
• Promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
