Job summary

Placements24 seeks a diligent Site Engineer to oversee day-to-day technical and engineering aspects on construction sites in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. You will ensure work aligns with designs, quality standards, and safety regulations, contributing to infrastructure projects along the coast.

The role requires a civil engineering degree or diploma, 3+ years’ on-site experience, and strong surveying, drawing interpretation, and software skills.

Qualifications

• A National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience as a Site Engineer or similar site-based role.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience with setting out using surveying equipment (e.g., total station, GPS).
• Knowledge of South African construction standards and regulations.
• Familiarity with civil engineering software and MS Office Suite.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies and best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all technical aspects of construction activities on site.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accurate execution of work.
• Conduct quality control checks and ensure all work meets required standards and specifications.
• Monitor progress of construction activities and report on completion status, identifying delays or issues.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
• Collaborate with project manager, foremen, and subcontractors to coordinate work activities.
• Manage site surveys, setting out, and measurements for various construction elements.
• Assist in the preparation of method statements, risk assessments, and daily site reports.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during construction.
• Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and personnel on site.
