Placements24 is seeking a skilled Project Engineer for on-site Richards Bay construction projects. The role blends office planning with on-site oversight, collaborating with site teams, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver projects on time and to spec.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil/Construction degree and 5+ years in construction. Strong safety, quality, and communication skills are essential for successful project delivery in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the construction industry, preferably in a project engineering role.
• Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and project management principles.
• Knowledge of relevant building codes and safety regulations.
• Proficiency in using project management software and engineering design tools is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with site supervision and quality assurance.
• Adaptability to a hybrid work model, balancing office and site responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers in the planning and execution of construction projects.
• Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with designs, specifications, and safety standards.
• Assist in the preparation of project schedules, progress reports, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel to ensure smooth workflow.
• Conduct site inspections and quality control checks on materials and workmanship.
• Identify and report any potential issues or risks, proposing solutions.
• Review and approve shop drawings and technical submittals.
• Maintain project documentation and records.
• Participate in site meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
• Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and company policies.
• Assist in the commissioning and handover of completed projects.
