Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer for a fully remote role based in South Africa. You will lead the design and implementation of water infrastructure, perform hydrological/hydraulic analyses, and manage multidisciplinary projects across regions while ensuring regulatory compliance and environmental protection.

You will mentor junior staff, collaborate with clients, and stay abreast of evolving standards in water resources engineering.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Water Resources, Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration with ECSA or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years of specialized water resources experience.
• Proficiency in hydraulic and hydrological modeling software.
• Strong knowledge of water quality, wastewater treatment, and distribution systems.
• Experience with environmental regulations and permitting processes.
• Demonstrated project management skills, including budget and schedule control.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a remote team.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and implementation of water resources projects.
• Conduct hydrological and hydraulic analyses using standard software.
• Develop conceptual and detailed designs for water infrastructure.
• Perform environmental impact assessments related to water resources.
• Prepare technical reports, design documents, and permits.
• Collaborate with clients, government agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior staff.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources.
