Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa seeks a Senior Civil Design Engineer with Water Resources expertise to join a fully remote team. Lead design and analysis of water resource projects, applying hydrology, hydraulics and modeling to deliver sustainable infrastructure from a home office.

The role involves coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, clients and regulators remotely, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring compliance with national and local standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Master's degree in Water Resources Engineering preferred.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA advantageous.
• 7–10 years of progressive civil engineering experience.
• Proficiency in hydrological and hydraulic modeling.
• Experience with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, EPANET.
• Expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D for site design.
• Leadership and project management experience.
• Strong remote communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and analysis of water resource projects (stormwater, flood control, water supply, wastewater).
• Develop detailed plans, specs and reports using industry software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, SWMM).
• Perform hydrological and hydraulic modeling to assess impacts and mitigation options.
• Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies, coordinating with field teams remotely.
• Manage project timelines, budgets and deliverables to meet client expectations.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
