Placements24 is assisting a renowned architectural and engineering consultancy in finding a Senior Structural Engineer for their Benoni, Gauteng team. The role focuses on leading structural design across commercial, residential and industrial projects with a strong emphasis on collaboration with architects and other engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is required.
• Minimum of 7 years of post-graduate experience in structural engineering focused on building design.
• Experience with steel, concrete and masonry structures.
• Proficiency in ETABS, SAP2000, and similar tools.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit for structural detailing.
• Strong understanding of building codes and construction practices.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to lead teams and manage multiple project priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis for a range of building types.
• Prepare comprehensive structural design calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Ensure designs comply with SANS and building regulations.
• Collaborate with architects and consultants to integrate structural design with architectural intent.
• Perform site visits for construction monitoring and issue resolution.
• Mentor and guide junior structural engineers.
• Review structural designs submitted by third parties and contractors.
• Manage structural engineering aspects to ensure timely delivery and budget adherence.
• Stay updated on advancements in structural engineering techniques and materials.
• Contribute to technical excellence and innovation within the team.
