Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design and analysis on large-scale projects in Johannesburg. The role requires strong leadership, client liaison, and a track record in delivering safe, creative structural solutions across commercial, industrial and residential sectors.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with architects and MEP teams, and drive technical excellence while managing timelines and budgets in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Requires B.Eng or B.Sc in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Pr.Eng registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive structural engineering experience on major projects.
• Proficiency in ETABS or SAP2000.
• Excellent knowledge of SANS and building regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis for complex building projects ensuring SANS and international standards compliance.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications and reports for tender and construction.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical guidance to construction teams.
• Perform structural integrity assessments and recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with architects and MEP engineers for integrated designs.
• Manage project timelines and budgets for structural deliverables.
• Mentor and supervise junior structural engineers.
• Stay updated on latest structural engineering software and techniques.
