Placements24 in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal is seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to lead design, analysis and supervision of structural systems for a range of buildings and industrial facilities. You will ensure safety, compliance with SANS codes, and high‑quality engineering solutions.

The role requires a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Structural/Civil Engineering, ECSA Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng, 6+ years of post‑graduate experience, and proficiency with SAP2000, ETABS, Prokon and CAD.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural specialization.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Technologist (Pr Tech Eng).
• Minimum of 6 years of post‑graduate experience in structural design and analysis.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, Prokon) and CAD software.
• Thorough knowledge of South African structural design codes and standards.
• Experience with concrete, steel, and masonry materials.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
• Excellent communication, report writing, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural systems for buildings and other construction projects.
• Prepare structural calculations, drawings, and specifications using relevant software.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant building codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., SANS codes).
• Collaborate with architects, other engineers, and project managers to achieve project objectives.
• Conduct site inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to design specifications.
• Investigate structural issues and provide solutions for existing or damaged structures.
• Review shop drawings and material submittals for compliance with design intent.
• Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
