Job summary

Placements24 in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, seeks a senior Structural Engineer to lead design, analysis, and oversight of heavy industrial facilities. You will develop calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure safe, compliant structures.

Working with multidisciplinary teams, you will review submittals, perform site visits, and contribute to project planning and cost estimation while adhering to SANS and Eurocodes. A PrEng is preferred.

Qualifications

• BEng or MEng in Structural Engineering or related field.
• PrEng registration with ECSA preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in heavy industrial construction.
• Proven experience with steel and concrete design.
• Strong knowledge of seismic design principles and international codes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites around Richards Bay.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural components and systems for heavy industrial facilities.
• Develop detailed structural calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards and regulations (SANS, Eurocodes).
• Perform site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to design specifications.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Conduct structural integrity assessments and recommend modifications or repairs.
• Review contractor submittals and respond to technical queries from the construction site.
• Utilize advanced structural analysis software for modeling and simulation.
• Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and cost estimation related to structural works.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and engineering records.
