Placements24 is seeking a Senior Solar PV Design Engineer to join its renewable energy team in Durban. You will design PV systems for commercial, industrial and utility-scale projects, optimizing performance and ensuring safety and quality.

You will develop layouts, single-line diagrams, run energy simulations, verify codes (SANS), conduct site surveys and support installation with the procurement and construction teams. A strong background in PV design and BESS is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of solar PV design experience.
• Proficient in PVSyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD and SketchUp.
• Knowledge of SANS electrical codes and renewable regulations.
• Experience with grid-tied/off-grid PV and BESS.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical and mechanical designs for solar PV systems (layouts, diagrams, component selection).
• Perform energy yield assessments and performance simulations.
• Ensure designs meet SANS codes and safety regulations.
• Conduct site assessments to collect design data.
• Support installation and commissioning with technical guidance.
• Stay updated on PV technology and industry trends.
