Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Solar PV Design Engineer in Stellenbosch to lead detailed design and technical specifications for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale solar projects.

You will perform site assessments, produce single-line diagrams and BOMs, run energy yield simulations, and ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards, collaborating with installation teams and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years designing solar PV systems.
• Proficiency with PV design software (PVsyst, Helioscope).

Responsibilities

• Perform site assessments and feasibility studies for potential solar PV installations.
• Develop detailed system designs, including single-line diagrams, wiring layouts, and component selections.
• Create technical specifications and Bill of Materials (BOM) for solar PV components (panels, inverters, mounting structures).
• Conduct performance simulations and energy yield assessments using industry-standard software.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant building codes, electrical standards, and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with installation teams and clients to provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
