Job summary

Placements24 in Sandton is seeking a Senior Solar PV Design Engineer to lead the design, sizing, and optimization of PV systems for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale projects.

You will use PVsyst and Helioscope for simulations, perform site assessments, ensure compliance with standards, and support construction and commissioning while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years hands-on PV design experience.
• Proficiency with PV design software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar.
• Strong understanding of inverter tech, battery storage, and grid interconnection.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of grid-tied and off-grid solar PV systems from concept to construction drawings.
• Perform site assessments, shading analysis, and energy yield estimations using industry-standard software.
• Specify and select solar panels, inverters, mounting structures, and other system components.
• Ensure designs comply with electrical codes, safety standards, and client specs.
• Provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
