Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Solar PV Design Engineer for a fully remote role, supporting operations and project development from anywhere in South Africa. You will design PV systems, create layouts and BOMs, and perform energy modeling and financial analysis for diverse clients.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy, 4+ years of PV design experience, and proficiency with PV design software including PVsyst, Helioscope, and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field.

Responsibilities

Design commercial, industrial, and utility-scale solar PV systems using industry-standard software (PVsyst, Helioscope).
Produce detailed electrical single-line diagrams, string sizing, and component selection.
Perform energy production modeling and financial analysis for proposed PV systems.
Develop system layouts, equipment specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
Ensure designs comply with relevant electrical codes, standards, and client requirements.
Collaborate with project managers and installation teams to provide technical support during implementation.
