Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Safety Engineer for our Port Elizabeth-area client, a leading chemical processing manufacturer. You will develop, implement, and monitor HSE programs, oversee risk assessments, and lead incident investigations to prevent repeats.

The role requires a degree in Engineering or Safety Management, 6+ years in safety engineering, PSM knowledge, NOSA certification preferred, and strong communication and auditing skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Safety Management, or related technical field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in a safety engineering role, preferably in chemical/manufacturing.
• NOSA certification or equivalent desirable.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM principles and relevant safety legislation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive HSE programs and policies.
• Conduct risk assessments, JSAs, and hazard identification studies.
• Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses; determine root causes and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with South African OHS Act regulations and industry standards.
