Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Process Safety Engineer for a Port Elizabeth-based facility. You will lead process safety initiatives, conduct PHAs, implement PSM programs, and design SIS and safety equipment to ensure safe operations.

You will investigate incidents, determine root causes, and train staff on process safety principles while ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role demands deep technical expertise and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years in process safety engineering.
• Experience with PSM standards (OSHA PSM, EPA RMP).
• Experience with risk assessment methodologies and safety system design.
• Strong knowledge of chemical processes and industrial safety.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct PHAs such as HAZOP/LOPA/FMEA for chemical energy processes.
• Develop and implement Process Safety Management programs.
• Design and specify safety instrumented systems and safety equipment.
• Investigate incidents, determine root causes, propose corrective actions.
• Provide process safety training to staff.
• Ensure compliance with EHS regulations.
