Job summary

Placements24 in Pretoria seeks an experienced Senior Chemical Engineer specialized in Process Safety to lead the development, implementation, and management of process safety management systems across our chemical operations.

You will conduct PHA/LOPA, HAZOP studies, risk assessments, incident investigations, and training, ensuring compliance with national and international standards while guiding engineering and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years in chemical process engineering with strong process safety focus.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM, HAZOP, and risk assessment techniques.
• Experience with SIS and emergency response planning.
• CCPSC or similar certification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies, risk assessments, and safety audits.
• Investigate process safety incidents and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide technical guidance on process safety to engineering and operations teams.
• Ensure compliance with national and international process safety regulations and standards.
• Develop and deliver process safety training for plant personnel and management.
