Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Senior Research Scientist in Computational Biology to join a fully remote team. You will analyze large omics datasets to identify drug targets and biomarkers, applying advanced ML methods and statistical models.

Collaboration with biologists and data scientists will translate findings into actionable research strategies. PhD required with 7+ years in the field, strong Python/R skills, and experience with AWS/GCP and HPC environments.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in computational biology or bioinformatics research.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant bioinformatics tools and libraries.
• Demonstrated expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data mining techniques applied to biological data.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and high-performance computing environments is a plus.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, suited for a remote team environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute computational analyses on large omics datasets (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics).
• Develop and implement advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms for biological data interpretation.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists to define research questions and analyze resulting data.
• Identify and validate potential drug targets and biomarkers based on computational findings.
• Develop and maintain robust, reproducible computational pipelines and workflows.
• Present complex findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
