Placements24 is seeking a Senior Computational Biologist to join a fully remote research team. You will analyze large-scale omics data (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics) using Python or R, develop ML models, and collaborate with biologists to guide research directions.

The role emphasizes building robust pipelines, delivering interpretable results, and communicating findings to diverse audiences while working from anywhere with a world-class team.

Qualifications

• PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum six years of professional experience analyzing omics datasets.
• Proficient in Python or R with Bioconductor, SciPy, and Pandas.
• Experience with Bash scripting and HPC or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
• Strong background in statistical modeling, ML, and data visualization for biology.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sophisticated computational methods for large-scale biological data (NGS, transcriptomics, proteomics).
• Design bioinformatics analyses to identify pathways, biomarkers and drug targets.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists and bioinformaticians to interpret results.
• Build and maintain data analysis pipelines and databases for data management.
• Develop predictive models and ML algorithms for biological data interpretation.
• Present findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
